Snoop Dogg Drops the Mic on Mary Jane: Hip-Hop Icon Quits Smoking, and Leaves Pot Past in a Cloud of Smoke!

Famous for his smoky journey throughout his career, rapper Snoop Dogg announces a change of tune, revealing he's extinguishing the joint and putting the high notes behind him, citing 'much consideration & conversation with my family' as the driving force.

Renowned rapper and hip hop luminary Snoop Dogg has recently disclosed his decision to bid farewell to marijuana, surprising his fan base with the unexpected announcement on social media. In a statement, the artist, whose birth name is Calvin Broadus, expressed, "After much consideration & conversation with my family, I've decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time."

Reactions among his followers were mixed, with some expressing disbelief and playfully commenting on Snoop Dogg's abrupt departure from his well-known affinity for cannabis. Ro Marley, the son of legendary reggae vocalist Bob Marley, humorously remarked, "No more BBQ at uncle's … the grill is off for the season."

Conversely, there were those who shared personal anecdotes of negative experiences associated with marijuana use. A follower recounted a health scare, stating, "I had a pulmonary embolism last year and had to give up smoking as well; so more edibles for Edible Dee it is; but I know how hard this transition is, especially for someone like you. Take all the time you need."

Snoop Dogg's career has been synonymous with his embrace of marijuana, evident in his various business ventures and media appearances centered around the substance. Just before the surprising revelation, the rapper announced a collaboration with celebrity chef Martha Stewart, introducing a line of 'Best Bud Bags'—designer clutches equipped with a lighter and a compartment for weed.

This isn't the first time Snoop Dogg has declared a departure from his cannabis habits. In 2002, he claimed to be quitting the drug for good, only to relapse shortly afterward, a moment humorously depicted in Adam Sandler's film "40 First Dates." In 2013, under the moniker Snoop Lion, he revealed to GQ magazine that he was smoking an astonishing 80 cannabis blunts daily.

Snoop Dogg initially gained prominence through appearances on Dr. Dre's 1992 album "The Chronic," where a marijuana leaf prominently adorned the cover. His debut album, "Doggystyle," released in 1993, marked the beginning of a prolific career, encompassing 19 albums and a performance at the 2022 Super Bowl.

Amidst these developments, it's essential to note the potential health risks associated with marijuana overuse. Frank, the national anti-drug advisory service, highlights that excessive marijuana consumption can elevate the risk of lung cancer and contribute to long-term issues such as anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations, and an increased likelihood of developing schizophrenia.
